Day 11 - Bali (3rd October ‘24)

Today was another quiet day.

We got up fairly late and headed to the beach front for brunch. We went back to Soul on the Beach where we had our first meal because it was damn good and the breakfast menu looked nice. We were careful to sit in the shade as we were still dealing with sunburn! (though it was much better in the morning). I had a breakfast with spicy sausage, bacon, poached eggs, spinach etc washed down with tangerine juice, while Kirstie had Banana pancakes. Excellent all round.

After brunch we wandered further up the beach front than we had been before to see more places to eat, more market stalls, more massage stands. Sanur is touristy, but it has not been ruined by tourism. Along the way we saw a Turtle conservation project which looks after hatched turtles who appeared on Sanur beach and nurses them until they are ready to be released. It is one of the drawbacks of the tourism. Sanur beach used to be a very popular hatching ground for Turtles, but now there are a couple of charities that try to look after them (knowing that tourism is unlikely to go away!).

After Sanur we popped to the supermarket in the mall to top our supplies for the rest of our time in Bali and headed back to the villa. We both lounged about with me catching up on the blog, Kirstie reading and then both us in the pool for a good chunk of time (Kirstie was in longer than me, probably for about 90 minutes!).

We got showered and dressed and headed back into Sanur for dinner. We opted for a Japanese place which was pretty damn delicious. After dinner we headed back to the villa for more hanging out and a few games of Bananagrams!

Tomorrow will be our last full day in Bali and currently the plan is to head back to the beach, now that our sun burn has calmed down, however we go with the intention of lathering up with sun cream a bit better. We don't want to burn our burn and have an uncomfortable flight to Kuala Lumpur on Saturday!

the beach!

Baby turtles almost ready for releasing…

Fully grown turtle. For some reason not ready for release yet.
